Overview

The Energy Workers’ Compensation Program is partnering with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to host a webinar discussing the DOE Former Worker Medical Screening Program.

Moderators will discuss:

  • Former Worker Medical Screening Program overview
  • Overview of the Worker Health Protection Program (WHPP), including early lung cancer detection
  • Discuss eligibility and services available to former (and current) workers from 14 DOE sites through WHPP.
  • Overview of the Building Trades National Medical Screening Program, conducted by CPWR - The Center for Construction Research and Training in conjunction with the University of Maryland Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, and Zenith American Solutions, Inc.

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act provides lump-sum compensation and medical benefits to current and former nuclear weapons workers whose illness is a result of working in the nuclear weapons industry. Survivors of qualified workers may also be entitled to benefits. Covered illnesses include radiation-induced cancer, chronic beryllium disease, beryllium sensitivity, chronic silicosis, or any illness due to exposure to toxic substances.
